Section overview

A division is the main land unit in HoI4. Without it there is no front, no attack, no defense. This section covers the basics: from “why bother” to “how to ship and refill after a fight.”

What’s inside

  • Why you need divisions, and how a template differs from a unit on the map
  • How to Create a Division and where to spend Army Experience
  • Attack, defense, placement, sea transport, reinforcement

What’s not here

  • A deep combat-stats breakdown (that’s another section)
  • Ready “meta” templates for every patch
  • Full navy and air guides

Where a beginner should start

  1. Why Do You Need Divisions? — so you know what you’re actually moving on the map.
  2. How to Create a Division and Army Experience — template, training, template edits.
  3. Then Plan and attack / Put on defense / Position properly — how to fight with your hands.
  4. Transport by sea and Reinforce divisions — once you have divisions and a living front.

From practice: first learn to put a division on the map and give it an order. A pretty template with no supply, manpower, or front position is just a picture in the designer.

How to use this section next: open the tab for your task → grab the basics → go to the full article if you need the deep dive. Combat stats and the designer “in numbers” live in the neighboring section.
