Difficulty: 2/10 | Time: 10-15 minutes.

.
- GPS marker for Maintenance Bunker A — found in "Cave C (Shovel Cave)" (marked with the letter M on the map).

- Return back to where you turned right. Run forward and neutralize 1-3 "Babies".
- Pick up the engineering supplies and the firefighter axe.
- The exit is the same as the entrance. Run to the ladder and climb up.

📍 Path to Maintenance Bunker A
- Run to the beach where the rebreather cave is located — "Coastal Cave A". This is a spot where the helicopter sometimes crashes at the start of the game.
- Turn your back to the water and run toward the right river (img. 1).
- Go up the river until you discover a native camp (img. 2). Go left, bypass the waterfall and the enemy camp. You'll find yourself in a creepy part of the river that looks like a swamp (img. 3).
- Run forward until you see engineering equipment. Turn left and find a patch of ground with a shovel icon on it.
- This spot is marked with the letter M on the map. Dig up the bunker entrance — it may take a little time.
- Descend into the bunker.
⚔️ Actions Inside the Bunker
- After descending, a corridor opens before you. Pick up supplies under the ladder and run forward along the corridor, collecting supplies from the floor as you go.
- You'll see a fork: forward — to the axe, right — to other useful items (img. 4). The order doesn't matter, so I suggest turning right first.
- You'll see a lit room (img. 5). On the left table: Pistol Rail, Laser Sight, Keycard, and a 3D printer. Take everything.
- If you go further into the room, you'll find a bathroom — inside is a collectible book, as well as a stylish and nice-looking outfit.
- After collecting everything, return to the fork. This time run forward and neutralize 1-3 "Babies". You'll enter a technical room where you can find engineering supplies and the Firefighter Axe. Take everything.
🚪 Bunker Exit and Next Steps
- After picking up all the items and supplies, it's time to leave the bunker.
- Turn your back to the technical room and run back along the corridor. Climb up the ladder.
🔥 Firefighter Axe: Full Overview
The Firefighter Axe is a powerful melee weapon and effective tool for cutting wood in Sons of the Forest. Compared to the other two axes (Modern and Tactical), the Firefighter Axe has the slowest swing speed but is the strongest melee weapon. It's harder to obtain than the Modern Axe because you'll need the shovel.
Resource Gathering
- With the Firefighter Axe, you can fell a medium tree in just 5-10 hits. This is a very good performance, though the Modern Axe is still slightly faster at cutting wood. For efficient logging, the Modern Axe is better, but the Firefighter Axe gets the job done well too.
Combat Use
- The Firefighter Axe truly shines in combat. Successful hits on mutants of any size and armor often stagger the target. Power attacks (holding left mouse button) almost always cause a brief stun. This is one of the most powerful melee weapons in the game, so use it against the most dangerous enemies.
- IMPORTANT I recommend using this axe similarly to the modern axe — for blocking and damage reduction in situations where you need to avoid getting hit.
Effectiveness
- Damage:
- • "Native" (No Armor) — 3 hits
- • "Puffy" — 4 hits
- • "Fingers" — 5 hits
- • "Legsy" — 14 hits
- • "Twins" — 6 hits
- • "Demon" — 6 hits
Solafite Upgrade
- The Firefighter Axe can be upgraded with 6 units of solafite at the solafite upgrade table. The result is a golden axe head with the highest damage increase of any weapon in the game. The upgraded Firefighter Axe becomes a true killing machine.
💎 Additional Tips
- The Firefighter Axe is a mid-to-late-game weapon. Don't rush to get it in the first few hours — focus on the shotgun first. But once you're preparing to clear the main bunkers (for example, the Entertainment Bunker, Food Bunker), the lava caves, and facing demons, the Firefighter Axe (especially upgraded with solafite) will be your best friend. A single power attack can stun even the largest mutant, giving you time for another strike or to reposition. And remember: this axe is worth going through the entire process of getting the shovel and finding Maintenance Bunker A.
