How to find a katana

Difficulty: 8/10 | Time: 15-20 minutes.

Briefly:

1. Find the entrance to the "Residential Bunker." On the map, it's a bed icon on a purple background.
2. Pick up the ammo and military uniform for Virginia from the helicopter. Enter the cave.
3. Go down and find the bunker entrance. Run down the stairs and open the door with the keycard you picked up in the electric chainsaw bunker.
4. Run further down and open another door. Watch the scene and prepare for a tough fight.
5. Run forward, picking up supplies along the way. In the first room, you'll find 1 "Fingers". Neutralize him and take all the loot.
6. Run deeper into the bunker: you'll encounter 2-3 "Pale Blind", 1-2 "Fingers", and 1-3 "Babies".
7. Pick up the Golf Club and other loot from the second living room.
8. Go down one floor and collect supplies and story items from the living rooms. In the second room, you'll find the Katana. Pick up the GPS marker for the "Luxury Bunker" in one of the rooms.
9. Run all the way forward, open the door for Timmy using the PC in the room.
10. Go down several floors and neutralize one "Pale Blind".
11. Enter the surgical room, pick up the Body Camera and Golden Mask.
12. Open the door with the keycard and run forward through the cave. The path is linear, you won't get lost. There are no enemies, but at the end you'll find the cave exit.

📍 Path to the Residential Bunker

• Visit the electric chainsaw bunker and pick up the guest keycard there.
• Run to the largest lake on the map. It's located in the northern part of the map. Nearby is also the entrance to the rifle cave. Run to the northern part of the lake — the side closest to the ocean. Find the wooden bridge by the river flowing out of the lake, and turn to face the lake (img. 1).
• Turn left and run to the fork — turn right and run until you see a helicopter.
• Inside the helicopter, you'll find the Military Uniform for Virginia. There will also be ammunition around it.
• Near the helicopter, among the rocks, is the entrance to the cave leading to the bunker (img. 2).

⚔️ Actions Inside the Cave (Katana)

• After entering the cave, run forward — the path is linear, you won't get lost. You'll hit a closed door (img. 3). Open it with the keycard and watch the short scene.
• After the scene, prepare for battle. It's about to get intense. Run forward a bit and enter the first living room (img. 4). Inside sits 1 "Fingers". Don't ignore him — he can hit you from behind while you're looting. Neutralize him and take everything valuable.
• Move further down the corridor. This is where it gets serious:

  ⚠️ THE MOST DANGEROUS AREA

  The most dangerous spot — here you'll encounter 2-3 "Pale Blind" and "Fingers" at the same time. "Pale Blind" can knock you down, and "Fingers" can finish you off.

  ▶ TACTICS: Use explosives: grenades, sticky bombs. Throw explosives into groups of enemies whenever possible. If you're being overwhelmed — run back to the previous room.

  A second option is to fight from the doorway — the one you came through to enter the living quarters. This passage is partially blocked by a large mutant — enemies can't get through. You can lure them to the doorway and shoot them safely.

  IMPORTANT "Pale Blind" are much more dangerous than regular ones — they can knock you to the ground with a single hit. Be careful, don't rush into the crowd.
• After dealing with the enemies, enter the second room and take all the loot (img. 5). There are supplies and a Golf Club — a fun collectible weapon, but not the main goal.
• Go down one floor using the stairs. Search the first room on this floor — there are supply crates. Take everything, don't be shy.
• Now head to the second room on the same floor (img. 6). This is the main prize. On the cabinet in the center of the room lies the Katana. Pick it up. Congratulations, you've obtained one of the best weapons in the game.
• Don't leave immediately — there are more supplies in this same room. Take everything. Also go into the third room (further down the corridor). There you'll find a laptop with a GPS marker for the "Luxury Bunker" (the final bunker) (img. 7).
• Run further to the fourth room. To open the door for Timmy, use the PC in the room (img. 8). The room is separated by a landing — don't miss the turn.
• Go down the stairs several floors. There's about a 50% chance a "Pale Blind" will spawn here — take him out from a distance.
• Then enter the surgical room. On the table are the Golden Mask and Body Camera (img. 9).

🚪 Bunker Exit

• Leave the surgical room and open the door with the keycard. Behind it, a cave awaits — run forward.
• There are no enemies along the way.
• The path is linear — just run forward 70-100 meters until you see the exit. The cave exit will bring you to the surface.
• Congratulations, you've obtained the katana, body camera, golden mask, and advanced the story. You are now armed with one of the best weapons in the game.

The Katana is a melee weapon in Sons of the Forest. It is an elegant, powerful, lightning-fast weapon that compensates for its lack of blocking ability with its speed. The long Japanese sword boasts a high attack speed and a large range, making it extremely convenient in any situation. The Katana is one of the best weapons, but obtaining it requires venturing into a difficult bunker.

Appearance and Changes

• Compared to the version from The Forest, the katana in Sons of the Forest seems slightly improved. The blade is more curved, the handle is black and longer, and the tsuba (guard) has a simple oval shape and smaller size. In reality, the cutting and slashing properties of this katana would be better than the previous version, which is fully reflected in the game.

Combat Use

• The Katana is a brutal, fast-attacking weapon capable of taking down even a fully armored enemy in seconds. It is much better at severing limbs than any other melee weapon — even before your opponent dies. Damage-wise, the katana is similar to the modern axe but surpasses it in attack speed.
• Defense: The defensive properties of this weapon cannot compete with those of the modern axe. However, despite the katana's weak blocking ability, you can still negate all damage by parrying enemies. This effectively eliminates its only drawback if you can do it in quick succession during a fight.
• Range: The katana's range falls between the modern axe and the spear.
• Recommended Tactics: The katana is generally considered a good weapon if you can consistently dodge enemy attacks. Flanking enemies works much better than trading blows head-on.

Solafite Upgrade

• The katana can be upgraded with 6 units of solafite at the solafite upgrade table. The result is a golden katana with a significant damage increase. The upgraded katana becomes even more deadly and handles armored enemies noticeably faster.

• The Katana is a weapon for an aggressive and mobile playstyle. It's ideal for clearing caves of mutants. Its main advantage is speed: you can land a series of strikes before the enemy can react. However, against large mutants ("Fingers", "Twins", "Legsy"), be careful — they aren't staggered as easily, and the lack of blocking can work against you. In such cases, combine the katana with a shotgun or crossbow: a quick series of strikes, then back off and shoot. And don't forget the solafite upgrade — the golden katana not only looks impressive but also significantly boosts your combat effectiveness.
