How to find a flashlight
Difficulty: 1/10 | Time: 10-15 minutes.
📋 What to Bring
- Nothing — the flashlight is on the surface, no enemies along the way.
Briefly:
- Run to the starting beach (near the boat with the pistol).
- Turn your back to the ocean and run up the road that runs right alongside the right river.
- After the road ends, run left to the fork, turn right there, and run to the start of the rocks.
- You'll eventually end up near a GPS marker.
- Find the operative hanging from a rope and hit the rope with an axe from above to cut it.
- Drop down, pick up the flashlight and the GPS locator from the operative.

📍 Path to the Flashlight
- First, you need to reach the starting beach. In the ocean off the beach, there will be a boat with a pistol and a GPS locator — a purple icon on the map out in the water.
- Turn your back to the water and run right, toward the river (img. 1). Here you need to get onto a path running along the left side of the river (img. 2).
- Run forward along the path until it ends. Turn left, toward the forest, and run to the fork (about 100 meters) (img. 3).
- At the fork, turn right and follow the winding road upward into the mountains (img. 4). You should end up near a purple GPS marker on the map.
- Approaching the marker, you'll see a hanged operative — he has a flashlight (img. 5).
- To get him down, you have two options:
Option 1 — climb up to the rope and hit it with your axe, cutting it.
Option 2 — throw a small rock at the rope (if you don't want to climb). The rope will break.
- After that, pick up the flashlight and GPS locator. You now have a flashlight and an extra GPS marker. The flashlight runs on batteries, which can be found all over the map.
💡 TIP: The GPS marker can be held in your hand and placed on a stick in the ground; you can also change its color by pressing RMB. After placing it, it will appear on your map. Small rocks for the second method are lying right at your feet.
🔦 Flashlight: Full Overview
Flashlight is designed for lighting up dark caves and nighttime. It does this job far better than the electric lighter from the emergency kit. However, the flashlight runs on batteries, which you'll need to hunt for all over the island.
How to Turn It On
- Via inventory: select the flashlight in your inventory, then press L when you need light. By default, this key toggles the lighter.
- Assign to a hotkey: open your inventory, hover over the flashlight, and press any number key (from 0 to 9).
- Turning off: to stow the flashlight, press the same hotkey or the L key again — one key handles both actions.
Power and Batteries
- The flashlight runs on batteries, which are random loot. You can find them in suitcases, hide pouches (sometimes dropped by natives), as well as in caves and abandoned camps.
- Important feature: no additional action is required to "recharge" the flashlight. If you have batteries in your inventory, your character will automatically insert them when you try to use the flashlight.
Battery Life
- One battery lasts about 15–20 minutes of real time without interruption. I recommend turning off the flashlight when not needed to save power. Always carry spare batteries before exploring large caves.
💎 Additional Tips
- Don't rely solely on the lighter in caves — its light is often insufficient to spot enemies or important items. The flashlight provides a directed, bright beam that also helps with orientation. However, keep in mind that light can attract enemies ("Puffies"), so in some situations it's better to use it sparingly or just stick with the lighter.
